John Smolski Collection
Emerald has always been coveted as one of the most precious gemstones, and emerald from Colombia is considered to be some of the best in the world. With its rich color and vibrant luster, this specimen has all of the qualities that make Colombian emeralds such a sought after item. This piece features a brilliant splay of emerald on a matrix of black shale and crudely rhombic calcite. The central emerald crystal measures 1.6 cm in length by 9 mm in width, and exhibits a wonderful internal fire. The crystal has a naturally healed fracture at its base, and a pristine flat-top termination.
