David Byers Collection
This specimen, once in the Marion Stuart collection and then on to the David Byers collections was labeled only as Kazakhstan, but my suspicion is that it is really an “onegite” from the original location at Lake Onega in Russia. The specimen has that distinctive red look from goethite inclusions in the quartz and it’s matrix is a thin crust of hematite or goethite, so the iron minerals are certainly there. It’s a very nice quartz specimen regardless.
