John Smolski Collection
A simple yet elegant combo specimen from the Ural Mountains of Russia. The highlight of this piece is a single, beautifully formed pale blue topaz crystal, complemented by a sharply terminated smoky quartz crystal. Both crystals have grown on a matrix of late-stage bladed albite, which has been partially coated with a tan micaceous mineral. The deep color of the smoky quartz lies in perfect contrast to the topaz, highlighting its subtle blue hue. With minor contacts on the edge of the specimen, this piece displays very well from its face. Two natural fractures can be seen down the c-axis of the topaz crystal, appearing as thin veils. This piece comes complete with the original, historic Russian label.
