Summitville is probably most famous for superfund cleanup from Galactic Resources operations in the 1980’s and 1990’s, but this was actually a major mining district that produces many fine mineral specimens including the best covellites ever found in the state, but native gold specimens are rather scarce on the market. This sample, saw-cut on all but one surface, is a small but rich specimen of native gold infused in the surrounding volcanic rock matrix.
