Harold Michel Collection
Harold Michel was a long-time collector and part time mineral dealer in the Phoenix area. He grew up in Kansas, but discovered minerals when he moved to Arizona and it became a passion for the rest of his life. He specialized in Arizona minerals, but had a fine suite from Colorado, a quartz collection, and numerous worldwide samples. The collection was well catalogued with cards carrying detailed information about each specimen.
This is a fantastic example of the malachite after azurite pseudomorphs from Ajo. It is a very aesthetic arrangement of crystals with an appealing satiny luster, and tiny bits of azurite scattered on the surface. This specimen was also pictured in the Mineralogical Record volume 7, number 3, page 134.
