Mineral Park, Mohave County, Arizona, USA 3 × 1.5 × 3.5 cm

Sold Specimen Number: 1200-0042 Browse All Specimens
This is a historic specimen from the Arizona boom town of Mineral Park. Significant mining in the area began in 1871, and lasted through 1887. All but a ghost town today, rich gold and silver lodes helped to establish Mineral Park as the Mohave County seat for several years before the title was moved to nearby Kingman, Arizona. This specimen features a single silver wire measuring 1.7 cm in length that is attractively perched on a calcite-rich matrix. Several smaller wires can be seen throughout the host rock. This piece was in the collection of Edna Andregg, and is a magnificent example of 19th century western US silver.
