Jim & Dawn Minette Collection
This is a beautiful tourmaline “scepter” from Brazil. This is not a scepter in the true sense, where a complete crystal is capped by a secondary crystal. Instead, the effect in this piece appears to be brought about by a compositional change related to the color of the tourmaline. The green outermost layer appears to have been etched away from the pink core, leaving only the tip intact. Or perhaps the green layer was never fully developed, unable to grow around a core that was encapsulated within another pegmatite mineral. Regardless, the scepter effect is stunning, and the color contrast superb.
