Wendy & Frank Melanson Collection
An historic specimen of bornite pseudomorph after bladed chalcocite from the Levant Mine in Cornwall. The mine was established in 1820, and was officially closed in 1930. The mine remains a popular visitor attraction, though it has not produced specimens like this in quite some time. This piece features several bladed and prismatic crystals, the most notable of which is a single blade perched on top of a 1.4 cm prism. The three-dimensionality is quite appealing.
