Wendy & Frank Melanson Collection A very nice specimen of Dawsonite from a world renowned locality. The crystal has a brilliant pearly luster, and aesthetic form. Dawsonite is a hydrous sodium aluminum carbonate, named in honor of Sir John William Dawson, an esteemed professor of geology and pioneer of paleobotany at McGill University where the species was first discovered in 1874.
