The Freiberg mining district is one of the world’s most famous silver localities, and fine specimens of silver from the area are becoming increasingly rare on the open market. This large mass of dense wire silver boasts wires to 2 cm in length, and 4 mm in width. A wonderful play of color is produced between the generally dark patina and several small regions of lustrous, antiqued silver. The wires have a remarkably delicate form, creating a beautiful and aesthetic specimen all around. Formerly in the collection of Russell P. MacFall.
